Today's Halachos are dedicated by a daily reader, in honor of the birthday of  D.M. May the coming year bring her abundant Bracha, Hatzlacha, Happines and the fulfillment of all her Tefilos. Until 120 in Good Health!

1) From time to time , it is proper to thoroughly  clean out the bread box or other area where open breads and pastries are stored, as doing so will prevent anybody  from inadvertently ingesting any forbidden bugs which can often find homes in  exposed breads, yet are almost impossible to be noticed by the naked eye.

This is especially true if the bread box or shelf is located in a low area close to the ground.

2) When cleaning out a bread box, keep in mind that bread crumbs which collectively would add up to a Kzayis may not be discarded as is, and must be wrapped respectfully (e.g. in a plastic bag) before being thrown out. (See Shulchan Aruch Orach Chaim Siman 171:1 and Mishna Berura S"K 9)

Dear Halacha For Today Reader,

Purim is around the corner.

The more Tzedakah you give to poor people on Purim, the more praiseworthy you are!

It is better to give additional Matanos L'Evyonim than to give extra Mishloach Manos or to increase the Seudas Purim, because ..."There is no greater or loftier Simcha than to gladden the hearts of the poor, widows, orphans and converts. One who gladdens the hearts of these downtrodden people is likened to the Shechina (!)"  (Words of the Rambam Hilchos Megilah Perek 2 Halacha 17, quoted in Mishna Berura Siman 694:3)

As I do twice yearly (Before Purim and before Rosh Hashana) I raise funds for various Talmidei Chachamim who need financial assistance. There is no greater Mitzvah than supporting Talmidei Chachamim in need. These funds will be distributed on Purim day B'Ezras Hashem.

I am posting a letter from HaRav Dovid Schustal Shlita, Rosh Yeshiva of Bais Medrash Govoha of Lakewood in regard to one of the people for whom I am raising these funds, who has unfortunately become ill and finds himself in an extremely difficult financual situation.

Please take part in this great Mitzvah and in the merit of doing so may Hashem shine His abundant blessings down upon you and your families.

Donations can be made via the link below. Please specify that it's for the Matanos L'Evyonim campaign. For other options, email me at halachafortoday@yahoo.com

QUESTION & ANSWER CORNER

Reader Submitted Questions of interest on topics related to Halachos we covered, as well as other interesting topic and Answers. Taken from the Q & A pages on the Halacha For Today website.

Although the answers I give to questions are taken directly from the Sifrei HaPoskim, and aren't my own, they are  still for study purposes only, NOT for Psak Halacha.

Questions can be emailed to HalachaForToday@Yahoo.com

Reader's Question:

1) It says in Shulchan Aruch (Siman 101:4)  in the end of the sif, that according to the yesh omrim, even if one davens alone, they may ask for anything that they need except for in Aramaic. The mishna berura explains that Aramaic is seen as "disgusting in their (the angles) eyes". Number one, why is that the case?

2) why would we say yekum purkan  min shemaya (which is in aramiac) because this seems to be lower than all other languages, which is why one does not say this prayer, except when one is with the congregation. (see Shulchan Aruch). The same question for berich shemey.

Answer:

The Mishna Berura does not say because its disgusting. Rather, its because the malachim do not understand the Aramaic language (which in reality is a variation of Lashon Hakodesh) and thus will be unable to take our Tefilos  to Hashem. When we are in a Tzibbur, we don't need them to, as Hashem Himself takes our tefilos directly.

Aramaic is not a low language at all.

It is the language of the Talmud!

It is the language spoken by our great Tanaim and Amoraim!

In fact, it is the highest of our Tefilos which we specifically say in that language so they go directly  to Hashem without  the aid of any messengers.

The Talmud Megilah 3a tells us that the  Targum Onkelos, which is written in Aramaic, was given to Moshe Rabbeini on Har Sinai alongside the Torah! (The Malachim may consider Aramaic as an inferior language, but in reality it isn't)
Our holy sages, the Chazal tell us
תנא דבי אליהו כל השונה הלכות בכל יום מובטח לו שהוא בן עולם הבא, שנאמר הליכות עולם לו, אל תקרי הליכות אלא הלכות
- one who studies [at least two] Halachos daily is assured a portion in Olam Haba -  the world to come.
