Today's Halachos are dedicated by a daily reader, O.B., L'iluy Nishmas Toybeh Devorah bas Menachem Mendel who passed away on today's date, 1 Adar in the year 5736. May her Neshama continue to bask in the glow of Hashem in Olam Haba and may she be a Meilitzah Yosher for her entire family. Please have in mind when learning today's halachos that they be a merit for her Neshama.
1) If meat and dairy dishes/utensils were mistakenly washed together at one time in a dishwasher the following criteria must be determined to ascertain the kashrus of the dishwasher and the utensils.
If both of the dishes/utensils were used within the past 24 hours with hot food (Halachically referred to as Ben Yomo) and the volume of water in the dishwasher is not 60 times (i.e. Batel B'Shishim) as great as eitherof the utensils, then the water , the dishes/utensils and the dishwasherare rendered non Kosher.
2) If, however, the dishes/utensils were not used in the past 24 hours with hot food or the volume ofwater used is greater than 60 times than the dishes/utensils,the dishes/utensils and the dishwasher retain their respective Kosher status. Although the answers I give to questions are taken directly from the Sifrei HaPoskim, and aren't my own, they are still for study purposes only, NOT for Psak Halacha.
Where is the source for [the custom] for someone to open the Aron Kodesh if his wife is pregnant?
Answer:
The Chida (Avodas HaKodesh;Moreh B'etzba 3:4) writes that as a Segulah for a woman to have easy labor, her husband should do Pesicha(open the ark) in the 9th month of her pregnancy.
Some people try and get as many Pesichas as possible during the 9th month, however I heard from a respected Rav in the name of the Chida that this should be done only once during the 9th month and not more times, as if one gets many Pesichas people will realize that his wife is expecting and that is not a Hanhaga of Tzniyus to "announce" to the entire congregation, and can actually couteract any benefits of this Segulah .
Our holy sages, the Chazal tell us
תנא דבי אליהו כל השונה הלכות בכל יום מובטח לו שהוא בן עולם הבא, שנאמר הליכות עולם לו, אל תקרי הליכות אלא הלכות - one who studies [at least two] Halachos daily is assured a portion in Olam Haba - the world to come. (:מגילה כ"ח )
