Short Chizuk Thought of the Day for Elul:

When Going through hard times, remember the following things and you WILL get through them, and remember: "If Hashem brought you to it, He will get you through it"

  1. Hashem loves me more than anything.

2. One must trust in Hashem and only in Hashem at all times.(for the help comes only from Him)

3. Everything that happens is for a reason .

4. Everything Hashem does for me is to bring me closer to Him.

5. Everything Hashem does for me is 100%  out of love  no question.

6. Hashem does not do things just like that. There is a master plan behind everything, and even though at times we don't and can't understand, I must believe in Him and know and trust 100% in Him that he knows what He is doing.

7. If one looks for Hashem one will find Him no matter what. He is right there. Just open the door (of your heart) and let Him in.

8. Just trust in Him, run to Him, know that He is there holding and carrying you, He loves you more then anything, you are His beloved child.

9. Hashem has many rooms in His glorious kingdom. Each of the rooms has a lock on them. But there is a master key that can open all of them. It is a broken heart and a humbled spirit with a sincere t'feilah(prayer). That t'feilah goes up straight to Hashem,(straight to the Kisay Ha Kavod).

1) A man may be alone with a woman if his mother, daughter or sister is also present. (see Shu"t Igros Moshe Even HaEzer Vol. 2 Siman 15 end of Dibur Hamaschil V'Hinay Af and end of Dibur Hamaschil V'Hinay Matzasi, and Vol. 4 Siman 65:8. This was also the Psak of the Chazon Ish.  Other Poskim including the Chida, Hafla'ah and Z'Chor L'Avraham were more stringent and did not allow this.)

Their presence eliminates the problems of Yichud even if the woman in question is "Libo Gas Ba" (Rav Yaakov Forchheimer shlita)

However, the above is only during the daytime hours, as during the night time an additional Shomer would be required besides his mother/daughter/sister. (See Rama Even HaEzer Siman 22:5 and Chazon Ish Hilchos Ishus Siman 34:3)

2) Likewise, a woman may be alone with a man (even Libo Gas Ba) during the daytime hours if her father, son or brother is also present.

During the night time hours an additional Shomer is necessary.

The exception to the above is a woman who is alone with a man and her son is present in the home, where according to many Poskim no additional Shomer is required even at night, as her son's presence alone is an adequate deterrent. (See Pischei Teshuva Siman 22:2. See also Shu"t Ein Yitzchak Even HaEzer Vol. 1 Siman 77:6)

QUESTION & ANSWER CORNER:

Reader Submitted Questions of interest on topics related to Halachos we covered, as well as other interesting topic and Answers. Taken from the Q & A pages on the Halacha For Today website.

Although the answers I give to questions are taken directly from the Sifrei HaPoskim, and aren't my own, they are  still for study purposes only, NOT for Psak Halacha.

Questions can be emailed to HalachaForToday@Yahoo.com

Reader's Question:

What is the general rule regarding brushing ones teeth on shabbos ?

What preparations can be made in order to brush ones teeth ?

Answer:

If the teeth need to be brushed, it may only be done softly, with a dry brush which is designated for shabbos use. (according to some authorities, it  has to even look different than the regular weekday toothbrush. See Shu"t Minchas Yitzchok  Vol. 3 Siman 50 ), in a way that will not cause bleeding.

Toothpaste may not be used according to Rav Moshe Feinstein Zatzal  (Igros Moshe Orach Chaim Vol. 1 Siman 112)  and most contemporary Poskim.

They do have some sort of new Shabbos Toothbrush and tooth wash on the market which  is ok, if necessary.

Mouthwash is ok to use.

Our holy sages, the Chazal tell us
תנא דבי אליהו כל השונה הלכות בכל יום מובטח לו שהוא בן עולם הבא, שנאמר הליכות עולם לו, אל תקרי הליכות אלא הלכות
- one who studies [at least two] Halachos daily is assured a portion in Olam Haba -  the world to come.
