March 31, 2015 Dear Kosher Insiders: Please be advised that 10 loaves of the Chometz version of frozen Royal Gefilte Fish were inadvertently stocked in the Passover section of the freezer at Kosher City Plus and sold TODAY – Tuesday, March 31. This gefilte fish is chometz gamur and may not be consumed or owned on Pesach. The chometz loaves of gefilte fish were accidentally included by the manufacturer in Kosher City’s Pesach order. At this time, we are unaware as to whether other retail stores have received the chometz version of this gefilte fish and if they may have stocked them in freezers. Please be on the lookout for this product in other retail stores and please double check the gefilte fish that you have purchased for Pesach. Please help spread the word. Sincerely, Rabbi Tsvi Heber Director of Community Kosher - COR 3200 Dufferin St., Suite 308 Toronto, ON M6A3B2 Canada t. (416) 635-9550 ext. 365 f. (416) 635-8760 www.cor.ca theber@cor.ca Reminder from the COR: We would like to remind the community to take caution while shopping for Pesach and check each and every label for a reliable kosher for Passover certification. It is very common for supermarkets and retailers in our community that are not supervised by a mashgiach to accidentally stock chometzproducts in aisles that are marked “Kosher for Passover”. Non-Pesachdik items found on the "Passover" shelves at Metro, Lawrence/Bathurst: - A single chometzdik Elite Mekupelet Chocolate bar amongst the rest which were kosher for Passover; - A whole shelf full of Strub’s Willie’s Zucchini Relish; - Cans of Haddar Tomato Sauce that specifically states “not for Passover use” amongst the rest which were kosher for Passover; - A single chometzdik Gefen Instant Vanilla amongst the rest of the kosher for Passover selection. At COR, we encourage kosher consumers to do their shopping at COR certified supermarkets and retailers with supervised aisles, wherever possible. These Supermarkets and retailers are “kosher conscious” and are monitored by COR mashgichim, who work hard alongside proprietors and store managers to ensure that a Kosher for Passover aisle is properly cleaned and organized and contains only products that are acceptable for Pesach. A list of COR certified Supermarkets and retailers is found on pages 12 of the COR Passover Guide. Happy shopping and a chag kasher v’sameach from everyone at COR! (Good idea to check all your purchases at home too!)

MK – Canada’s Kosher Certifier Launches the First-Ever Interactive Passover Magazine Looking for a way to take Passover knowledge, laws and customs and make them available to the world at large in a user-friendly way, MK – Canada’s Kosher Certifier (based in Montreal) launched their interactive magazine, taking Passover to a whole new level. Earlier this year, the talented and creative MK staff learned about a technology called Augmented Reality, ushering in a new age of kosher education to Jews worldwide. Created in Europe, this technology takes the world around you (through a camera or head mounted display) and adds virtual content within a page such that it looks like it’s actually there in the real world. The app containing this technology is called Zappar. As a user the process is simple: You download the free Zappar app which opens up a camera view in "scanning" mode. Once the app detects something that’s Zappar powered it assembles all the content and brings that thing to life on-screen in front of your very eyes. Boring black and white text pages in anything from a book to magazine can now come to life and jump off the page with videos, interactive games and more. Do you have children who love stories? In this year’s magazine experience Rebbe Hill, the magnificent storyteller in an audio story created special for the Passover Magazine. World renowned speaker Rabbi Pesach Krohn, author of the bestselling The Maggid series has special words of wisdom. Not sure how to kosher your kitchen for Passover? Watch how it’s done with experts not only showing but explaining the process and why it is necessary. Don’t know how to set up your Seder plate? Zap it, and watch as foods are "dropped" onto the Seder plate on your screen in their correct positions, according to your custom. Want a better understand of Sephardic and Ashekenazi Passover customs? Zap the video and watch it all unfold in vibrant media. Don’t let the name Canada’s Passover Magazine fool you. The publication is not geared just towards Canadians. This is a magazine about Passover customs suitable worldwide, for all sects of Jews. The name is Canada because that is where the magazine was founded by the MK Kosher certifier, and that is where it became a phenomenon known throughout the world. MK has taken technology and used it in a kosher way, helping to further Jewish education. Zap Away!
