Kashrut Alert from Detroit COR: PLANTERS NUT PRODUCTS are acceptable only when bearing an OU symbol. Products bearing a K (which include most Planters Dry Roasted items) may contain gelatin, or may be produced on the same equipment as gelatin-containing products.
Please be advised that fresh and frozen carrots and mangoes from Israel are available for sale in the GTA. Frozen carrots are manufactured by a company called Bonduelle. Fresh carrots are packed in retail size bags under the brand “gocarrots” and were found for sale in No Frills at Dufferin and Rutherford. Mangoes are Shoham brand and were found for sale in Costco Billy Bishop. Fresh and frozen carrots and fresh mangoes are likely produce of the Shemittah year and are subject to the laws of Shemittah. The laws of Shemittah are intricate and incorporate the idea that the produce is holy and must be treated within the framework of that holiness. This includes restrictions on purchasing, consuming and discarding the produce. If you have already purchased this produce, please consult with your rabbi or the COR as to how to proceed.

Kosher Alert: Pearl River Bridge Sauces Brand; Pearl River Bridge Product; Oyster Flavored Sauce Company; Guangdong PRB Bio-Tech Co., Ltd. China Issue; Unauthorized OU The Orthodox Union does not certify any Pearl River Bridge sauces. June 10, 2015 OU Kosher Advisory Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese Product: Parmigiano Reggiano Cheese Issue: Recent media reports stated that there is a new Parmigiano Reggiano cheese made with kosher animal rennet which will be recognized as kosher by the Orthodox Union. These reports are inaccurate. The Orthodox Union reviewed the kosher status of animal rennet and determined that currently there is no animal rennet that meets OU kosher standards for the production of Parmigiano Reggiano cheese. Parmigiano Reggiano cheeses made with animal rennet are, therefore, NOT considered kosher by the OU.
