March 1, 2024 Mr. Nut - Dried Mulberry Packages of Mr. Nut Dried Mulberry, distributed by Vintage Food Corp of Newark, NJ, bear an unauthorized STAR-K symbol. STAR-K does not certify this company or any mulberries due to infestation. Corrective action is being taken.
Brand: Shock Rocks Product: All Shock Rocks varieties Company: Exclusive Brands, Mississauga ON Issue: Unauthorized OU The Orthodox Union does not certify Shock Rocks candies. Some Shock Rocks candies are packaged with an unauthorized OU mark. If you see this product in the marketplace, please provide details to kosherq@ou.org. Corrective actions are being implemented.
January 30, 2024: from the Star-K: Herbal supplements sold on eBay by A Swagman’s Shop of Midland, Texas, bear an unauthorized STAR-K symbol. They are made with non-kosher gelatin capsules. Corrective action is being taken.
January 22, 2024, February 1, 2024 from the CRC: The cRc does not certify Premoli Dressing as kosher. There are several dressings being sold with the cRc Kosher logo, including Greek Original, Lively Lemon, Tangy Balsamic, and Sweet Basil. All these contain red wine and balsamic vinegar which most likely are not kosher. There are many stores selling these products, including HarvesTime Foods, 2632 W Lawrence Ave., Chicago, IL 60625. Corrective action has been taken. Please contact the cRc (info@crckosher.org) if you come across these products in other stores.
January 31, 2024 from the OU: Old Vienna of St. Louis Honey BBQ Ranch Flavored Potato Chips, Old Vienna of St. Louis, Fenton MO has a missing D - Dairy Designation: The Orthodox Union certifies Old Vienna of St. Louis Honey BBQ Ranch Flavored Potato Chips as an OU D - Dairy product. Some 2.5 oz. bags were printed with an OU mark, without the D - Dairy designation. This products contains dairy as indicated in the ingredients and allergens statements. Corrective actions are being implemented.
LIEBER’S PRETZELS with the code “015X” have an erroneously printed label indicating Yoshon on some bags. These products are not actually Yoshon, as Chodosh malt was accidentally used in this particular batch.
February 5, 2024 from the COR Detroit: DUNCAN HINES MIXES: The OU has confirmed that all Duncan Hines Cake Mixes and all Duncan Hines Brownie Mixes are always Yoshon.
February 5, 2024 from the COR Detroit: RICOLA COUGH / THROAT DROPS: Only the following varieties are recommended by the cRc (Chicago Rabbinical Council). They do not require a certification sticker: Original (Natural) Herb, Honey Herb, and Lemon Mint - regular and Sugar Free.

February 5, 2024 from the COR Detroit: TWIZZLERS GUMMIES: While most Twizzlers candies are Kosher and bear an OU, Twizzlers Gummies candy contains non-Kosher gelatin and therefore bears no OU. (However, Twizzlers Press’d Gummies, sold in Canada, do not contain gelatin and are OU certified when bearing the OU symbol.)
Brand: Rosen’s Product: All bagels Company: Alpha Baking Issue: Rosen’s brand bagels, produced by Alpha Baking are no longer OU certified. Rosen’s breads and buns bearing the OU symbol on the packaging continue to be OU - Pareve certified.

Kashrus Alert - Mott’s Clamato (Canada) Product: Mott’s Clamato Original 213ml, Mott’s Clamato Extra Spicy 213ml Company: Canada Dry Mott’s Inc. Issue: Mislabel Mott’s Clamato Original and Mott’s Clamato Extra Spicy in 213ml cans, sold in Canada, have been mislabeled with an OK symbol. These products are not kosher. Corrective actions are being taken.
European Kashrus Alert: Heinz Mayonnaise January, 2024: From the Manchester Beth Din "Due to changes, we would like to confirm that only the following Heinz Mayonnaise products and sizes in Plastic bottles are certified without the MK logo. Mayonnaise 70% Seriously good 500ml - 565ml, 800ml Mayonnaise Light 25% Seriously good 565ml - 800ml Mayonnaise Creamy & Smooth 500ml/490g, & 800ml/775g "All other sizes are kosher only when bearing the MK logo on the original Heinz label."
January 18, 2024 from the OU in response to a question from the Kashrus.com editor: The Hershey’s Simply 5 Syrup is labeled OUD, but in fact, its true status, at the present time, is DE (Dairy Equipment). September 18, 2023 and January 17, 2024 from the OU in response to a question from the Kashrus.com editor: The Hershey’s Original Syrup is labeled OUD, but in fact, its true status, at the present time, is DE (Dairy Equipment). What does DE mean? A DE product does not contain actual dairy ingredients, but it is manufactured with heat on dairy equipment. DE items may be eaten after meat, but not with meat at the same time. Many products qualify to be DE but are labeled OUD because OUD is a less confusing symbol for the kosher consumer. Also, to be a true DE product, the equipment must be properly cleaned of residue after dairy production, and that level of cleanliness is sometimes difficult to maintain and guarantee. Please note that it is possible that the manufacturer will reformulate this product and add a true dairy ingredient. You will not be able to know this, since the OUD kosher symbol will remain the same. We recommend that you contact our office every few months to reconfirm the DE status of this product.
January 18, 2024 from the OU in response to a question from the editor: There are two versions of Kind Thins Dark Chocolate Nuts and Sea Salt Thins: The one marked OU is Parve. The one marked OUD is DE (Dairy Equipment).

Kashrut Alert: Walmart Coconut Creme Pie January 23, 2024: From the Scroll-K: Issue: Some “Walmart Coconut Creme Pie” sold at Wal-Mart stores have been labeled with the Scroll K symbol, erroneously omitting the DAIRY designation. These products are certified Scroll K – DAIRY. Corrective action has been taken.

This product was distributed in the NY Metropolitan area. Utz issued a voluntary recall for this product.

Euroland, Europa Market, Matryoshka - Unauthorized Use of OK Mark The following supermarkets – Euroland (Deerfield Beach, FL), Europa Gourmet (Hollywood, FL) and Matryoshka (Sunny Isles Beach, FL) are displaying an unauthorized OK certification mark on various signage, as well as on snack items under brands Euroland/Euroline. OK Kosher does not certify this company’s products or establishments.
December 25, 2023 Fruitique SquareBar Ice Cream Bars Fruitique Cheese and Guava SquareBar Artisan Ice Cream Bars bear an unauthorized STAR-D symbol and are not kosher. Product was found in Florida. Other Fruitique ice cream bar flavors have also been found to bear an unauthorized STAR-D. The kosher status of these items is currently under review. Corrective action is being taken.
