Tofutti has announced a limited precautionary recall of Vanilla Tofutti Cuties due to possible trace amounts of dairy. These traces if they exist were inadvertent and Batul L’Halachah This product was produced in one of their plants during July 2008 and can be identified by plant # 360-300. Anyone that has any of this product should call Tofutti at 908-272-2400 for a refund. All Tofutti products including Tofutti Cuties continue to be certified Kof-K Parve. Additional safeguards have been put in place to avoid any future inadvertent errors.

HEALTH HAZARD ALERT - CERTAIN BRANDS OF SMOKED SALMON AND GRAV-LOX MAY CONTAIN LISTERIA MONOCYTOGENES OTTAWA, March 31, 2009 - The Canadian Food Inspection Agency (CFIA) and Niagara Smoked Fish Limited are warning the public not to consume certain brands of Smoked Salmon and Grav-Lox because they may be contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of these products. Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled. Consumption of food contaminated with this bacteria may cause listeriosis, a foodborne illness. Listeriosis can cause high fever, severe headache, neck stiffness and nausea. Pregnant women, the elderly and people with weakened immune systems are particularly at risk. Infected pregnant women may experience only a mild, flu-like illness, however, infections during pregnancy can lead to premature delivery, infection of the newborn, or even stillbirth. The manufacturer, Niagara Smoked Fish Limited of Mississauga, Ontario, is voluntarily recalling the affected products from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall. The affected product, Shefa brand beef salami, is sold in 750 g packages, bearing lot code 2831, UPC 8 13217 00179 7, and a Best Before date of Jun2 09. This product has been distributed in Alberta, Manitoba and Ontario. There have been no reported illnesses associated with the consumption of this product. The manufacturer, Shefa Meats, Toronto, ON, is voluntarily recalling the affected product from the marketplace. The CFIA is monitoring the effectiveness of the recall.
