Boxes of sachets with the plain OU were packed with a "bonus" creamer inside. The creamer is kosher, but is dairy (chalav stam).

This product contains dairy as indicated in the ingredients and allergens statements. Some packaging was printed with an "OU Pareve" symbol as opposed to an OU D - Dairy symbol. Correction actions are being implemented.

OU KASHRUTH ALERT November 17, 2016 Kosher Advisory Gefen Chulent Beans Brand Gefen Product Chulent Bean Mix Company Gefen Foods, Bayonne NJ Issue Some bags of Gefen brand Chulent Mix with the UPC# 710069035003 and with a Best By dates ranging from 8/18 to 10/18 were found to contain insects. The Orthodox Union and Gefen requested that possibly affected product should be withdrawn from the marketplace and corrective actions are being implemented. Under proper storage conditions, it is unusual to find infestation in these products sold in the United States. The kashrus procedures at Gefen meet the highest kashrus standards. However, consumers should be aware that legumes and grains could develop infestation when stored in warm conditions. To determine whether legumes or grains are possibly affected, spread them evenly on a white surface and visually inspect them under good light prior to use.
STAR-K ALERT November 14, 2016 Tomer Brand Meat There is a new line of meat from Tomer, which is certified by Triangle K and Rabbi Elimelech Lebowitz. Please note that this meat is non-glatt and is not on STAR-K’s list of recommended meat products. It is sold at various outlets including Costco and Wegmans. STAR-K ALERT November 10, 2016 Wegmans in Baltimore Area Please note the following regarding Wegmans supermarket in Owings Mills, MD: Chickens are being sold with the following in-store statement: "Our Kosher rotisserie chickens are made with kosher ingredients using dedicated equipment and utensils. However, there is no rabbinical supervision." Please be aware that Jewish law stipulates that all meat and poultry items require rabbinical supervision throughout, including the cooking process. Kashrus Alert The dates that are being sold in Sobey’s are a product of Israel and are subject to the laws of Shmita. These dates are almost certainly from after the Zman of Byiur. One should not eat or derive any benefit from them. If they have already been purchased they can be discarded only after the dates have decomposed. Casiva Vchasima Tova

September 30, 2016 Kosher Advisory Honey Brand: Product: Honey Company: Issue: Please be aware that “forest honey”, “honeydew honey”, and “beechwood honey” generally refer to honey produced by bees that have consumed the nectar from aphids. They should be avoided. It has come to our attention that some honey blends contain these varieties, which would be identified on the product’s ingredients label. Please check your honey to ensure that these varieties are not listed.
