Please be advised that Starbucks has decided to end the expanded STAR-K Kosher information program Consumers are advised that effective immediately the STAR-K can no longer vouch for the kashrus of many of the items previously listed as recommended at these stores. Items no longer approved include Frappuccinos, Mocha, and Caramel Sauce. All recommendations for unflavored coffee are still the same. Our webpage has been updated to reflect these changes. San Paolo brand (a) Chocolate Chip Cookies and (b) Cranberry Cookies, are certified by the COR and are sold in the Chicagoland area. These products were inadvertently labelled without a dairy designation. They are kosher certified and dairy. Corrective measures have been taken by the COR.

June 4, 2018 GE Monogram Refrigerators PLEASE NOTE: There are some new models of GE Monogram refrigerators that cannot be adapted to include a Sabbath mode. The Orthodox Union certifies Chef’s Quality Multi Grain Tortillas as an OU pareve product. A limited amount of bags were printed with the words ’Pas Yisroel’ on them. This product is not Pas Yisroel. Corrective actions are being implemented.
June 6, 2018 PuraGenX Capsules Brand PuraGenX Product Any PuraGenX Products Company PuraGenX, Irvine CA Issue Unauthorized OU. The Orthodox Union does not certify any PuraGenX products. Some PuraGenX products are sold on internet marketplaces and images of some of their products have an unauthorized OU symbol. Consumers should check with the Orthodox Union before relying on internet vendors claiming Orthodox Union kosher certification. Corrective actions are being implemented.
OU KASHRUTH ALERT June 7, 2018 Meijer Dill Pickle Flavored Potato Chips Brand Meijer Product Dill Pickle Flavored Potato Chips Company Meijer, Grand Rapids MI Issue Undeclared Dairy. The Orthodox Union certifies Meijer Dill Pickle Flavored Potato Chips as an OU pareve product. A limited amount of this product was produced using undeclared dairy ingredients. The dairy product was packed in 9.5 ounce bags with UPC # 719283594365 and ’sell by’ dates between 07/16/18 and 08/13/18. The dairy product was recalled from the marketplace.

May 10, 2018 Cappiello Mozzarella Cheese Brand Cappiello Product Fresh Mozzarella Cheese Company F. Cappiello Dairy, Schenectady NY Issue The Orthodox Union certifies Cappiello Fresh Mozzarella Cheese. The certified cheese bears the OU D symbol and states that it is from Schenectady plant number #36-3893 on the front of the label. For about 2 months, Cappiello will make a non-certified Fresh Mozzarella Cheese at a another facility. The non-certified cheese does not include Schenectady, #36-3893 and the OU D symbol on the label. Consumers should be careful to look for the OU Symbol before purchasing this product.

May 8, 2018 - From the Star-K: PLEASE NOTE: In certain models of KitchenAid refrigerators with a STAR-K certified Sabbath Mode, after a power failure, the refrigerator recovers, but is not in Sabbath Mode. Even if the display reads "SAB", a light turns on when the door is opened. The models that are affected are KRFF507ESS, KRFF507EBL, KRFF507EWH, and KRFF707ESS. If you have one of these models, please email info@star-k.org (preferred) or call the STAR-K with your specific model and serial number (found on a sticker on right interior wall of the refrigerator). The manufacturer is working on a solution and we will update you when a fix becomes available.
