Irving, TX 75063 Issue: UNAUTHORIZED USE OF OK KOSHER SYMBOL 7-Eleven stores are displaying an unauthorized OK kosher symbol on Chai Tea Latte signs above hot beverage dispensers. OK Kosher Certification does not certify any 7-Eleven retail locations or products prepared on premises. Action: Corrective actions are being taken.
1 Adar 5779 – February 6, 2019 Product: Goji Berries Advisory: As per recent investigation, the OK has been finding high levels of insect infestation in dried goji berries. Until further notice, dried goji berries are not recommended, even when bearing the OK kosher symbol, unless in powder form. If they are intended for consumption in another form, a competent rabbi should be consulted.
OU KASHRUTH ADVISORY January 28, 2019 Goji Berries Issue Goji berry products may have a concern of tolayim. The Orthodox Union recommends that consumers check goji berries carefully, even if certified by the OU, in the following manner: Place the goji berries in sealed clear plastic container with lukewarm water Agitate vigorously Place berries in colander under a heavy spray of lukewarm water from the sink while shaking the berries Place berries again in a sealed container with lukewarm water Agitate vigorously Place the container on top of a lightbox and inspect water for insects The container should not be overloaded. Only a modest amount of berries should be placed into the container at once. Repeat process until no insects are found. Alternatively, for step 3: Place a 50 micron mesh cloth between two colanders Place berries in colander under a heavy spray of lukewarm water from the sink while shaking the berries Filter the water in container through the colanders Remove and inspect the mesh cloth on a light box Repeat process until no insects are found.

OU KASHRUTH ADVISORY January 11, 2019 Noosa Yoghurt Brand Noosa Product All Noosa Yoghurt Company Noosa Yoghurt, Bellvue CO Issue The Orthodox Union will no longer certify Noosa Yoghurts due to a recent change in ingredients. Noosa Yoghurts with the OU symbol are certified by the Orthodox Union and Noosa Yoghurts without the OU symbol are not certified by the Orthodox Union. Over the next few weeks, it is possible that both the OU certified and non-OU certified products will be in the marketplace at the same time. Consumers of OU products should check carefully to make sure the Noosa Yoghurts have the OU symbol.
