This company is NOT certified by OK Kosher Certification. Action Corrective actions are being taken.
Dear Kosher Insiders: Over the next two weeks, consumers will flock to Kosher Supermarkets and their Pesach aisles to do their annual Pesach shopping. As a community, we will literally spend millions of dollars on Pesach shopping in the GTA. At COR, we encourage kosher consumers to do their shopping at COR certified supermarkets and retailers with supervised aisles, if possible. These Supermarkets and retailers are “kosher conscious” and are monitored by COR mashgichim, who work hard alongside proprietors and store managers to ensure that a Kosher for Passover aisle is properly cleaned and organized and contains only products that are acceptable for Pesach. We have already found many chometz products on the “Passover” shelves of unsupervised supermarkets around town; including No Frills. These shelves are not monitored by Mashgichim. It is very common for non-Pesach versions of products to be labelled by retailers as “Kosher for Passover”. Packaging of kosher for Pesach versions of products is often quite similar to their non-Pesach version and it is therefore easy for the unknowing consumer to make a mistake and purchase the wrong product. Please use caution when making your purchases for Pesach. March 15, 2018 Natural Earth Brown Sushi Rice Natural Earth wishes to advise consumers that there have been reports of infestation in bags of Natural Earth Brown Sushi Rice. This infestation seems to have been caused by improper storage in some regions. In consultation with Star-K, Natural Earth is recalling the brown sushi rice. Consumers should either check the rice prior to use or they may return the product. Natural Earth apologizes for the inconvienence and wishes to assure consumers that they are working with the STAR-K to ensure all their products moving forward are stored properly and clean from any infestation concerns.
26 Adar 5778 – March 13, 2018 Brand Hickory Harvest Product Name Gummy Bears Company Hickory Harvest Foods Akron, OH 44319 Issue MISTAKEN USE OF OK KOSHER SYMBOL A limited amount of Hickory Harvest Gummy Bears were mistakenly labeled with an OK Kosher symbol. This product is NOT KOSHER. Action Corrective actions are being taken.
March 15, 2018 - 28 Adar, 5778 The MK wishes to inform the public that HARISSA (RED PEPPERS) DELIEUZE BRAND are being sold with a fraudulent MK symbol. These products are not kosher certified. Corrective action has been taken.
Starbucks Cold Brew Chocolate Coconut Coffee Brand Starbucks Narino 70 Product Cold Brew Chocolate Coconut Coffee Company Starbucks Seattle WA Issue OU P Labeling The Orthodox Union certifies Starbucks Nariño 70 Cold Brew Chocolate Coconut Coffee. This product is sold in boxes that are labeled with an OU P symbol. Please note that only the coffee packets in the box are certified for Passover, however, the chocolate coconut flavor packets are not certified for Passover and are not labeled with an OU P.
March 4, 2018 from Kosherquest.org: Terra de Lyssa organic infused olive oils, manufactured in Tunisia, bear an unauthorized STAR-K P. March 2, 2018 BioCoffee BioCoffee Organic Instant Alkaline Coffee, distributed by BioCoffee, Acworth, GA, bears an unauthorized Star-K and is not certified kosher. This supermarket has not been certified by OK Kosher Certification since 2013. Action Corrective actions have been taken.
20 Adar 5778 – March 7, 2018 Brand Alfasi Reserve Company Royal Wine Corp. Bayonne, NJ 07002 Advisory All Alfasi Reserve wines produced before 2017 are not mevushal. The 2017 Alfasi Reserve wines are mevushal, as stated in English, but bottles may be mislabeled with the words ’Not Mevushal’ in Hebrew.
February 28, 2018: Due to higher levels of insect infestation found in whole iceberg lettuce, the cRc now recommends using the thrip cloth method for whole iceberg lettuce. Alternatively, if you do not have a thrip cloth (for whole iceberg lettuce only) the leaves should be separated and washed well (soaked and vigorously agitated for a minute) in a bowl of soapy water (or vegetable wash). The lettuce should then be removed from the soapy water and washed off in a bowl of clean water. Repeat this process a second time (soapy water then clean water). No checking required. Bagged pre-washed iceberg lettuce without hashgacha requires only one round of the abovementioned washing method.
February 22, 2018 from the OU: Royal Jelly in Raw Honey, Healthy Organic LLC, Union City NJ ahs an unauthorized OU: The Orthodox Union does not certify Royal Jelly. Some containers of Royal Jelly in Raw Honey bears an unauthorized OU symbol. Corrective actions are being implemented.
February 23, 2018 from the KVH twitter feed (Rabbinical Council of New England): Fanta Kiwi Strawberry originating in Denmark imported to Israel by Royalty International & Little Swiss Ltd, רויאלטי זק שוויצריה הקטנה בע’’מ bears an unauthorized KVH symbol & is not certified by KVH Kosher. Corrective action is being taken.
February 27, 2018: From the COR Detroit: TIC TAC MINTS CANDIES are produced at many plants and in many flavors, and not all are Kosher. Even the same flavor can be found in stores with an OU on some containers, and no certification on others. Each individual container should be checked for reliable certification. - Please be aware that new TIC TAC GUM candies, which look the same as the mints candies and are sold in the same type of dispenser containers, are not Kosher and bear no Kosher marking. December 11, 2017: From the editor: Tic Tacs are now certified as kosher by the Orthodox Union when bearing the OU symbol. STORE BRANDS AND GENERIC BRANDS frequently change suppliers (i.e., the outside manufacturer that produces the product for the store), which often results in a change or loss of the product’s Kosher status. Stores also may have multiple suppliers for the same product, so that some packages on the shelf bear Kosher certification while others do not, or some are marked Pareve and some are marked Dairy. This is especially common at discount stores such as Aldi and Save-A-Lot. Consumers should therefore be especially careful when buying such products to check each package every time for proper Kosher certification.

February 28, 2018 - From the COR Detroit: FERRARA CANDY CO. - CHEWY LEMONHEAD FRUIT MIX CANDIES in a 5 Pack package is being sold locally at Dollar Tree and other stores with an unauthorized UMK symbol on the outside sticker label. The individual boxes themselves do not bear any Kosher marking. These candies are not certified, and are produced in a non-Kosher facility. The only Ferrara candies that remain under acceptable certification are Atomic Fireballs and Jawbreakers, and only when they bear the UMK symbol on each individual box. Boxes of CHEWY LEMONHEAD candies that bear a UMK symbol on the individual box and also state “Product of U.S.A.” on the box, and do not state “Product of Mexico” in the ink jet code on the side of the box, are old product that was produced years ago under UMK certification and are Kosher. (The year of production can be determined from the first digit of the ink jet production code. 5 = 2015, 6 = 2016, etc.) November 13, 2017 - From the UMKosher: All Ferrara Candy Company products made in Mexico, except for Atomic Fireballs and Jawbreakers, are not certified by UMKosher. Some packaging of other items erroneously bear a UMK, corrective measures have been taken. Also, some Ferrara Candy Company products have the UMK symbol on the outer packaging on products no longer certified by the UMK. Corrective measures have been taken.
8 Adar 5778 – February 23, 2018 Brand Alyssa’s Cookies Product Name All Products Company Alyssa’s Bakery Jupiter, FL 33477 Advisory Alyssa’s Bakery has decided to change the kosher status of all their products from Pareve to Dairy. New packaging will bear the OK D symbol as required. Any remaining products bearing a plain OK symbol are pareve.
February 26, 2018 Kosher Advisory Post Shredded Wheat Brand Post Product Shredded Wheat Company Post, Lakeville MN Issue No Longer Certified Due to changes in the production of Post Shredded Wheat, the Orthodox Union is no longer certifying Post Shredded Wheat. Boxes of Shredded Wheat with the OU symbol were produced before the changes and are certified by the Orthodox Union. Post Shredded Wheat without the OU symbol are not certified by the Orthodox Union. Post Shredded Wheat N Bran is not affected by the changes and will continue to be certified by the Orthodox Union when bearing the OU symbol. Consumers should always check for the OU kosher symbol before purchasing a product.

Fair Lawn, NJ 07410 Issue Mistaken Use of OK Pareve Symbol A limited amount of Woodpecker Natural Raspberry Flavored Yogurt Pretzels and Woodpecker Natural Blueberry Flavored Yogurt Pretzels mistakenly bear a plain OK symbol instead of the required OK D. These products are kosher and dairy, and correctly list dairy ingredients in the ingredient panel. Action Corrective actions are being taken.
February 23, 2018 Cheshni Foods Tea Biscuits Tea Biscuits distributed by Cheshni Foods, Elk Grove Village, Illinois, bear an unauthorized Star-K and are not certified kosher. February 19, 2018 Natural Earth Red Quinoa Natural Earth wishes to advise consumers that there have been reports of infestation in bags of Natural Earth Red Quinoa with expiration code 12-20-20, lot code 154. This infestation seems to have been caused by improper storage in some regions. In consultation with Star-K, Natural Earth is advising that consumers should check these bags prior to use by soaking the quinoa in water for 10-15 minutes and lightly stirring it. If there is infestation present, insects will be seen floating on the surface of the water. If no insects are seen, the quinoa may be used.
