Kosher Advisory Issue Due to COVID-19, some companies are facing challenges producing OU certified products because of the inability to meet certain requirements. As a result, the OU may be temporarily removed from packaging of these products. Rest assured that the OU will not appear on any products which do not meet OU standards. Consumers should NOT rely on their familiarity of brands or products without verifying the presence of a kosher symbol. This is always true when purchasing food products online, as the product displayed or description may have a kosher claim, but the product received may not have a kosher symbol or be kosher certified.

March 18, 2020 Rainbow Nerds (Allbrands Importer Israel) Brand Nestle Product Rainbow Nerds Candy in Israel Company Nestle USA, Arlington VA; Allbrands Importer Israel Issue Unauthorized OU Sticker The Orthodox Union does not certify Nerds candies. The product packaging does not bear an OU symbol. A sticker with the Allbrands Importer Israel name wrongly states that Nerds are certified by the Orthodox Union. Consumers should not rely on any sticker indicating that a product is certified by the Orthodox Union without verifying with the Orthodox Union that the product is certified.

These products contain milk, as clearly stated on the label, and are certified kosher dairy. Action Corrective actions are being taken.
January 21, 2020 Giant and Stop & Shop Brand Fresh Vegetables Giant and Stop & Shop brand packaged fresh vegetables, (Soup Mix containing dill and parsley; Brussel Sprout Halves; Cauliflower Rice and 8 Vegetable Blend) bear an unauthorized Star-K. Product is being removed from store shelves. Consumers who purchased these vegetables must check them prior to use. Brussel sprouts are not recommended.
16 Teves 5780 – January 13, 2020 Brand: La Choy Product Name: La Choy Bean Sprouts – 14oz can La Choy Chop Suey Vegetables – 14oz can La Choy Fancy Mixed Vegetables – 14oz can Company: Conagra Brands Chicago, IL 60654 Issue: Mistaken Use of OK Kosher Symbol A limited amount of La Choy Bean Sprouts, La Choy Chop Suey Vegetables, and La Choy Fancy Mixed Vegetables in one specific size: 14oz cans, were mislabeled with the OK symbol. These products are not kosher - lots affected begin with 21019. All other sizes, when bearing the OK symbol, are kosher certified. Action: Corrective actions are being taken.
It has come to our attention that GE mistakenly removed a critical piece of information from some STAR-K certified oven manuals. In the following list of GE, Hotpoint and Crosley models, Sabbath Mode does NOT control the light inside the oven. The light WILL turn on if you open the oven even when in Sabbath Mode. Owners of these ovens should either leave the light on over the duration of Shabbos/Yom Tov or simply remove the light bulb ahead of time.
