6058 – A Great Round End?
Question
Q. What is the reason we eat round Challos on Rosh Hashana’
Answer
A. Chasam Sofer and others explain that the round challos, have no end, symbolizing our wish for a year in which life and blessings continue forever without any end.
Some add that if you are a baker, you well know that the orders for challah for Rosh Hashana are about quadruple the normal Shabbos order, and there is just so much time to bake so many extra challahs, and no time to braid them so the baker can return home on time.
