6054 – Let the Service Institutions Provide Real Service!
Q. See question above. Can I in the above case just blow the shofar quietly under my blanket? Could I do the above, even if I have to be in the Hospital on Rosh Hashana, and there is no other Kosher place to daven?
A. Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that in need, if it does not affect the sound at all, as when the blanket is held sufficiently properly up as in a tent, it would be accepted.
However, even if you can’t leave the hospital, you should contact the Bikur Cholim organizations to help out as it is commonly done in many hospitals. Request the service enough time before Rosh Hashana. You should also try to organize early with other interested patients a proper room for services, as it is usually done in many hospitals.
