Q. See question above. I also wonder if in our days when one just paints the walls, is there an obligation to leave a Zecher Lechurban?
Answer
A. Indeed Poskim maintain that one should leave the required space unpainted, or remove the existing paint. (Nitei Gavriel, Hilchos Bein Hmetzorim 99: 9)
