Security in the Desert Through Trusting Hashem

In order that we should learn that great subject, bitachon (trust in Hashem), we were put in the very best environment, an environment where there was nothing but Hashem. In the midbar (desert) there was no way of sustaining ourselves. Food didn't grow there, and water was almost impossible. All around, they had enemies who had no pity, nothing but hatred and jealousy. Yet we lived in the midbar more securely and more successfully than any other period in our entire history.
