6096 – An Invitation. - Respected Rabbanim

I am a resident at Bedford Glen the condominium on the east side of Avenue Road between Douglas Avenue and Woburn Avenue. The addresses are 1555 Avenue Road and 40 Sylvan Valleyway.

On our private property which is for residents only, there a beautiful pond with a waterfall that abounds with fish and flora. It is a very fragile ecosystem.

I am also an observer of Tashlich. It would cause much damage to our pond/ecosystem for me or anyone else to toss anything into the pond. We do have signage to that effect

It has been our experience that many of those who observe the ritual do so at our pond. If the observance of Tashlich requires tossing anything, it should be observed elsewhere..

I am respectfully asking that a memo be circulated to the congregations in our community advising of our concern.

There is a flowing stream on the west side of Avenue Road just north of Woburn Avenue behind the Bank of Nova Scotia.
