6089 – Allways Face Upward?
Question
Q. Rabenu Shlit’a. Is it required that the open end of the shofar on Rosh Hashana should be facing upward? If not does the Baal Tokea have to bend himself so it faces up?
Answer
A. Although it is customary for the wider opening of the shofar to face upward, as it is written, “Hashem ascends with a blast; Hashem, with the sound of a shofar” (Tehilim 47: 6), it is not esential and one complies even when it is not.
