#5554 Sho-Far Sho Good?

Aruch Hashulchan (581: 14), Moed Lekol Chai (11: 50), and others write that one should not blow shofar at night, even when done just for learning and training how to blow, since it creates a negative spiritual awakening reaction.

However, Magen Avrohom (114) seems to conflict, since he mentions the question if one is permitted to blow on the night before Rosh Hashana. It appears that on other nights it is permitted.
