#477 I Made a Shvua Without Thinking, What Should I Do?

Question

I made a shvua without thinking and now I need it to be nullified. What should I do?

I made a shvua saying I wouldn’t do something for someone else (not my husband). I said it to make a point. I didn’t really mean to make a neder. How can I undo it?

Answer

Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that you have to make an annulment of wows in front of a court of three Rabbis. Please consult with a competent Rabbi as to how to have this process done. He also stressed the great need for carefulness in avoiding nedarim and shevuos.
