# 4554 In Pain and in Joy

Question

Kvod Harav. During the last days, as also published in Frum Toronto, some Jewish hostages have and are being released from Hamas captivity and it really is a true miracle.

I wonder, just as much as we have and are constantly saying Tehilim and Tefilot with deep feelings of pain and anguish for their survival and release, should we now also thank Hashem and offer a Kiddush or Seudat Hoda’a for those being saved?

Answer

Indeed, as Horav Shlomo Miller Shlit’a and other Gedolim often point out, one is obliged and has to take share in the feelings of joy and Yeshua, when one of us has been saved, released and given life. It is also an imperative obligation to do so as much as we can.
