Question
One who is going away for Shabbos and can get a free ride later in the day on Erev Shabbos or take a bus earlier, and he wants to leave earlier due to Kavod Shabbos, is the expense considered a Shabbos expense?
Answer
Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that it depends mainly in the intention of the individual involved. If it is done for the sake and honor of Shabbos, even if it is days or more before, it is considered to be a Kavod Shabbos and thus included in those expenses.
