Question
Can one on this year that Rosh Hashana that coincides with Shabbos blow the shofar on Erev Shabbos for learning purposes, since after all we won’t be blowing during the first day as it is Shabbos?
Answer
Mishna Berura (581: 240) mentions two opinions if it is permitted to blow for learning purposes when it is done in total privacy and seems to agree with the Eliahu Rabbo that is lenient. (quoted last).
Similarly, Kovetz Halochos permits.
