Question
During the present vacation time, some shuls have problems getting a minyan together. Is it correct during those days to include a child to be part of the minyan, so the Avelim can say Kaddish?
Answer
Shulchan Aruch (O.H. 55, 4-5) mentions that there are some Poskim who permit including a minor who is over six years old and understands to who one prays. However, he comments that the opinion of the Great Poskim is negative.
Yet, Remah (ibid.) maintains that some are lenient in case of need when the minor is holding on to a Chumash while davening.
