# 4176 Not the Brightest Shabbos Clock

Question

I have a digital clock which adjusts its brightness automatically based on the brightness in the room. There is no way to turn this feature off. If the clock is on can I enter the room or open/close the blinds in the room on Shabbos if it will make the clock brighter/dimmer? Is it problematic to have this clock on in the first place on Shabbos?

Answer

Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that one should indeed not use this type of clock on Shabbos.
