# 3976 Lots of Lots
Dear Rabbi we kindly need a prompt answer. This Shabbat as often happens, we have two attendants that have Yohrzait for their fathers in the same week and are candidates for receiving the Maftir Aliya.
In such a situation we usually cast lots to see who will be awarded the Maftir. On this particular case, one of the Yohrzait candidate’s father was a convert that did his Gerus before he married. Does that make any difference as for who we choose for receiving the Maftir?
Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that it does not and the lots should be cast to decide which son gets the Maftir.
