# 3783 Equal Rights?
Question
In our small early minyan we had a Shaila on the correct shape of a letter in the Sefer Torah,
It was a case that requires a child of about six or seven to recognize the letter. There was only available in the shul a girl that goes to Bais Yaakov and reads as well as any boy at that age. Was it proper in such a situation to ask that girl to read the letter
Answer
Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that in need it is permitted and acceptable. Horav Aharon Miller Shlit’a suggested that the Sefer Torah should be taken to a table in the Ezras Noshim.
Rabbi A. Bartfeld as revised by Horav Dovid Pam, Horav Aharon Miller and Horav Chanoch Ehrentreu Shlit’a.
