# 3758 A Sefer on New Seforim
Does one make a Shecheyanu bracha when buying or receiving a new beautiful Shas or any other precious Sefer?
Mishna Berura (223: 13) quotes a disagreement between Poskim if a Shecheyanu bracha should be recited for new seforim, since after all ’Mitzvos Lav Lehenos Nitnu’ or they were not given for physical enjoyment.
He quotes Chaye Adam that if one was searching for this sefer, and rejoices when he found it he may make that brocho.
Rs"Z Auerbach zt’l (Halichos Shlomo (1: 23: 17), recommends in such a case to recite Shecheyanu on another item and have in mind the sefer.
