Question
Is it true that Mishna Berura writes that women can receive an Aliya on Shabbat?
Answer
Shulchan Aruch (O.H. 282: 3) indeed rules that women can be included on the count of the seven Aliyos on Shabbos. However, he immediately adds that our Sages said that a woman should not be called to the reading of the Torah, due to the honor of the congregation.
