Question
Does the mother say Shecheyanu on the birth of her daughter? Does she say it also during the days of Sefira?
Answer
Mishna Berura (223: 2) maintains that the father and the mother, when they actually see the newborn daughter should recite Shechecheyanu. Other Poskim rule similarly (Orchos Rabbeinu 1: p. 92, Tzitz Eliezer 13: 20: Piskei Teshuvos 223: 1). And as in the prior question the mother can recite the brocho during Sefira.
