# 2852 Ring, in the New Year?
Question
How often does Rosh Hashana fall on Shabbath, as it does on this year (5781-2020) and we don’t blow the shofar, it seems so unusual?
Answer
Actually, during the last fifty years there were fifteen occasions when the first day of Rosh Hashana coincided with Shabbos, including the present year.
However, since the last one was 5770 (2009), it seems so remote and uncommon.
