#264 Buying eggs on Chol Hamoad
Question
Does one have to be makpid not to buy eggs on chol Hamoed because they may have been laid on yom tov?
Answer
There are a number of issues involved on buying eggs laid during Pesach if the chickens were fed chometz. (Igrois Moishe O.H. 3,61) therefore they should be bought before Pesach.
Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit"a opinion is that at least on the beginning of Chol Hamoed you can be certain that due to the marketing and delivery conditions the available eggs where laid before Yom Tov.
