# 2605 Lashon Hatov?

Question

If a friend confided to me that he tested positive to the Corona virus illness, but he doesn’t want other people to know, and I should keep it to myself. Should I tell others? Would that be lashon hora?

Answer

Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that if there is concern that he may unwittingly infect others, as he does not maintain total isolation as required, one should in principle tell others that could be affected to prevent the spread of the disease.

Since they could be other relevant factors to consider, it is better to let the competent Rabbi close to the person affected know first, so a proper response can be implemented.

Rabbi A. Bartfeld as advised by Horav Shlomo Miller Shlit’a.
