Question
Many elderly use in our days hearing aids and follow the opinion of Poskim that they should read themselves from a kosher megilla when the megilla is being read in shul. Is it better if at that time they turn off or remove their hearing aids so the "non-kosher" megilla sounds emanating from the apparatus will not interfere with their private reading?
Answer
Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that, it is better to turn off the hearing aid, especially if he can hardly hear without it. Based on the Mishna Berura (689: 5), he should also use a kosher megilla.
