Question
Should someone that gives shiurim and teaches Torah to a rabbim, travel out of town to the wedding of a good friend, if that would cause the bittul Torah of the many?
Answer
Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a is that when a wedding takes place in town and one’s presence requires spending little time, one should make the effort to comply with the great mitzva of being messameach Chassan Vekalah. However, if travel to another city is required and a day or two would be necessary, when the bittul Torah of the many is involved, if possible it should be avoided.
