Question
Re question 2429, in regard to immersing utensils manufactured in Israel, but sold in a non-Jewish store. If the item is bought at a Jewish-owned store... does it still need to be toiveled?
Answer
Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that the buyer has to check with the Jewish store owner whether he bought it straight from the Jewish manufacturer in Israel, in that case it would not need tevila. Or it could have been purchased from an intermediary Gentile importer or wholesaler, in which case it would need tevila without a brocho.
