# 2422 Labor of Love
Question
Since learning Torah and doing mitzvos out of pure love for Hashem is the greatest and most elevated of all actions possible, should then, when possible a teacher of Torah shiurim refuse being paid, if he can survive without that salary?
Answer
Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that it may be better to receive at least part of the remuneration offered, so he will feel obligated and responsible for the times and quality of the Torah he teaches. He then may donate privately the moneys received to tzedaka etc., thus in essence the mitzva was done with humbleness, out of pure love to Hashem.
