# 2401 What's in a Name?

Question

Do geirim have ruach hakodesh (like parents) when choosing their name?

Answer

Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that it stands to reason that if a ger has the right kavana and intention when choosing the new name, after praying truly and sincerely for Hashem’s help and consulting with his Rabbi, mentor and family, Siata Dishmaya or heavenly help will be granted to choose properly.
