Question
A relatively old-new toy creates drawings and words on a handheld screen, by magnetically pulling on small metal balls, sometimes of different colors. A pencil magnet is placed on that point, and it makes the ball come out and stay in that elevated place, thus creating with the balls an image or words. Can that be used on Shabbos?
Answer
See question 2259 above. Since the balls are held together in a frame, Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that playing with this handheld screen would involve a Rabbinic prohibition.
