# 2222 Walking Alone In Memory Lane

Question

On a shul bulletin, the time for Yizkor is posted. Why? Does Yizkor need a minyan?

Can a patient say Izkor when he has to stay in bed?

Answer

Poskim rule that a minyan is not required for reciting Yizkor (Dudaei Sadeh 12, Moadei Kodesh p. and others). However, as applies to other tefilos, it is better when they are said in a group and by many, as the Talmud (Berachos 8a) teaches; Rebi Nassan says: Hakadosh Baruch Hu, does not despise the prayer of the many.

Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is similar.
