Question
On Shabbos Hagodol if there is a Bar Mitzva, who has preference for maftir, the Rabbi who always receives the maftir, or the Bar Mitzva boy who is also a Cohen?
Answer
Horav Shlomo Miller’s Shlit’a opinion is that the Rabbi has preference since the Bar Mitzva is honored by receiving the first aliyah. However, if the Bar Mitzva has already prepared the reading of the haftarah, the Rabbi should let him read it, while he only recited the brochos.
