Question

In shul do the rabbi or the gabay have to explain the meaning and translation of Parshas Zachor before the reading, so the attendants who don’t know the Hebrew will understand?

Answer

Although it is best to know the translation of the words, it is not essential. And we do not have a tradition to explain them before the reading. (Nitey Gavriel – Purim 19: 8.)
