Question

If someone is hospitalized, can one bring a Sefer Torah to his room so he can at least read Parshas Zachor from the Sefer. If not should he read it from a Chumash?

Answer

Poskim permit to bring a Sefer Torah to a hospital or jail for reading Parshas Zachor (Mishna Berurah 135: 46, Chayei Adam 31: 15.)

However, if there is no minyan present and no Kerias Hatorah will take effect, Horav Shlomo Millers Shlita opinion is that the patient should rather just read from a chumash.
